📢 Medical Secretary Opportunity – Consultant Support Role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Med Sec to provide efficient and effective medical secretarial support to a Consultant and wider office team. This role is ideal for an experienced Medical Secretary who enjoys managing busy workloads, supporting clinicians, and delivering a high standard of patient-focused administration.
You will play a key role in organising the Consultant’s workload, acting as a trusted Med Sec and PA, and ensuring smooth day-to-day service delivery. A positive, enthusiastic, and “can-do” attitude is essential, along with excellent communication skills and the confidence to handle patient queries with professionalism and empathy.
🔹 Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive medical secretarial support, acting as a Med Sec and personal assistant to the Consultant

Produce accurate, high-quality medical correspondence, reports, and documentation using audio/copy typing and word processing systems

Manage large volumes of email and telephone enquiries efficiently and courteously

Maintain electronic diaries, arrange appointments and meetings, and manage last-minute changes

Organise, prioritise, and coordinate workloads to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Maintain patient notes, filing clinic letters, reports, and correspondence accurately

Liaise with patients, relatives, GPs, and healthcare professionals both internally and externally

Ensure strict confidentiality and compliance with data protection, health & safety, and organisational policies

Provide cross-cover and support to other secretaries as required, demonstrating initiative and teamwork

GCSE (or equivalent) English (Grade A–C / 9–4 or Level 2 Literacy)

RSA III Typing & Audio or equivalent

ECDL or equivalent

NVQ Level 4 Business Administration or equivalent

AMSPAR qualification

Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent experience
