Our client is a luxury clinic-based specialist in day-case plastic surgery and dermatology in West London.
Looking for an experienced ODP/ anaesthetics lead (Band – 6/7) to deliver highly disciplined theatres to an exceptional standard of safety and patient care.

Key Accountabilities
1. To ensure the safety and care of patients within the theatre and treatment rooms
2. To provide clinical oversight and supervision to staff and Consultants, working supportively
alongside the Theatre Manager and Consultant Clinical Directors
3. Supporting the Theatre manager to co-ordinate the day to day running of the department
ensuring efficient use of resources – particularly high utilisation of theatres.
4. To supervise and monitor standards of nursing care and practice and keep abreast of
technical and surgical developments in anaesthetics
5. To understand the needs and requirements of our consultants, building a forward-thinking
working environment
6. Working together with the management team to ensure compliance with hospital
governance, risk assurance and CQC regulation
7. To work with the theatre manager to meet specific area objectives and departmental

Specific Accountabilities
1. To ensure the safety and care of patients
a. To work alongside the Theatre Manager ensuring good clinical practice and
supervising the practice of all staff
b. To work alongside the Theatre Manager to meet department objectives
c. To ensure equipment is well maintained, functioning, and cleaned correctly and that
staff are trained in handling and using all equipment
d. To ensure compliance by you and your team following and maintaining clinic policy
and procedures
e. Support and assist the management and organisation of care provision within the
theatre department, working in collaboration with other senior members within the
theatre suite
f. In conjunction with the Theatre Manager to be responsible for the day-to-day
supervision of their team, triage issues – solve at source and escalate as appropriate
to Theatre manager
g. To motivate and supervise a team of permanent, bank and agency staff throughout
the day to ensure uniform practice, time and resources are managed through
effective teamwork
h. To support the Theatre Manager with bank and agency staff induction,
competencies, and ongoing training support
i. To work in conjunction with the Theatre Manager, to implement and oversee clinical
practices and enforcing changes
j. To mentor the anaesthetics team and be a role model to junior staff
k. To support the stock manager as an advisor for anaesthetics needs, ordering and
supplier management

l. To oversee the completion of daily checks and ensure policies and SOPs are adhered
to, escalating issues to the theatre manager as appropriation
m. To deputise for the Theatre Manager in their absence
n. Take part in on-call rota, escalating issue and coordinating pre-arranged staff
o. Working alongside the Theatre Manager to maintain close liaison with all
Consultants and staff so that patients receive optimum levels of care
p. To ensure the delivery of appropriate, individualised care, with care delivery in a
safe environment
q. To ensure evidence-based practice is undertaken within your department
r. To analyse outcomes of care; ensuring that action is taken as per manager
instruction and following any clinical audit review
s. To work alongside the Theatre Manager and the team to make continuous
improvements to the patient journey
t. To work with the Theatre Manager and evaluate information regarding clinical
standards, developing action plans where gaps exist
u. To agree the required capabilities and competencies for safe practice in lead area

2. To provide clinical leadership for staff and Consultants
a. Lead and develop staff to reach their full potential in your lead area
b. Act as a role model promoting the company values at all times
c. Agree clear, specific objectives and review performance in line with company
appraisal system
d. Manage poor performance, capability in line with company policy
e. Act as a role model for staff, exercising leadership and team spirit
f. Foster a supportive working environment, maintaining staff morale and facilitating
good and effective communication with team members and Consultant users

3. Supporting the Theatre Manager to co-ordinate the day to day running of the department
ensuring efficient use of resources
a. Support the rostering of staff within the department, providing the required skill mix
to promote a cost-effective service
b. Provide a focus on business results whilst maintaining the balance between quality
care and sound financial performance
c. Ensure theatre requirements for surgery as per consultant preferences, including
equipment are planned 2 weeks ahead of time, revised the week before and
prepared the evening before
d. Support the Theatre Manager, ensuring theatres run to time

4. To supervise and monitor standards of nursing care and practice and keep abreast of
technical and surgical developments for your lead area
a. Maintain quality to agreed standards within the clinic
b. Develop personal knowledge and practice and facilitate continual professional
development amongst others
c. Ensure legislation, policies and procedures are correctly applied and followed within
your specialist area and the department
d. Maintain an awareness of current advances in nursing practice and research and
attend continuing education programmes for the business

5. Understand the needs and requirements of consultant users, building a collaborative
working relationship
a.Build open and trusting relationships with consultant users, demonstrating willingness
to promote new ideas and business opportunities

6. Ensure compliance with Hospital Governance, risk assurance and CQC regulation
a. Support the Theatre Manager and Clinical Governance Lead in the completion of
regulatory action plans following inspections
b. Ensure that regulation, policy and procedure are correctly applied within the clinic
c. Identify poor practice and take appropriate action with the Theatre Manager
d. Maintain an active role in the clinical audit working closely with the Theatre Manager
and Clinical Governance team

• Act as an accountable practitioner, working in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery
Council Code of Professional Conduct
• Work within the framework of clinical and professional guidelines which promote patient
well being and safety
• Work in accordance with company policy and procedure
• Develop own knowledge and accountability for ongoing professional development
• To comply with well-defined codes of practice concerning controlled drugs and registering of
operating cases
